ScrabbleVocabulary, arithmetic and finding the option nobody saw.
What your child develops
How sessions run
Word study, board strategy and score maths all at once. Players build a working two- and three-letter word list, then learn to weigh a safe play against a high-scoring one. A genuine boost for English and mental arithmetic.
Where scrabble comes from
The game was designed by Alfred Butts, an out-of-work American architect, during the Great Depression. He counted letter frequencies in newspapers to set the tile values still used today. It was renamed Scrabble and sold commercially from 1948, and competitive play is now organised worldwide.
Programme structure
Children join at the stage that suits them — nobody is held back waiting for a term to start.
How premium squares work and how to add a score quickly and correctly without a calculator.
The two- and three-letter words that make most of the difference, learned in small batches.
Balancing vowels and consonants, and knowing when to swap rather than force a weak play.
Setting up your own scoring chances and closing off the ones you would be handing over.
Why it matters
Scrabble is the rare game where reading, spelling and arithmetic are all load-bearing at once. Children who play it regularly tend to read more closely, because every new word is worth something the next time they sit down.
Every child plays
We adapt pace, session length and communication to the child in front of us. Tell us what your child needs when you book and we will plan the session around it — no child is turned away.
